Last checked September 7, 2026. Joint Commission International describes its directory as the complete list of current JCI-accredited organizations. Use the official directory and filter for India because status and scope can change after an article is published.

What to verify

Ask which legal entity and facility the accreditation applies to, its current status and scope, the relevant department, and how the hospital handles patient safety, informed consent, complaints, records, and follow-up.

Accreditation is one part of the decision

Also compare the clinician's experience for the proposed treatment, the written estimate, clinical review, recovery plan, travel support, and what happens if the plan changes. A facilitator can help organise questions but cannot certify a hospital or clinical outcome.

Verify the exact facility and scope

Check the legal entity, campus, department, accreditation scope, current status, and dates through the accrediting organisation and the hospital. A logo or directory entry should not be treated as proof that a particular clinician, procedure, or outcome is covered.

Ask the same questions of every option

Use a written comparison for reports, clinician and department, facility, proposed pathway, estimate assumptions, payment recipient, rehabilitation, discharge records, follow-up, travel timing, and what happens if care changes. Accreditation can inform the questions, but the treating team must discuss individual suitability.

Check status before relying on a badge

Accreditation status and scope can change. Check the accrediting organisation and the hospital directly, record the date you verified them, and ask how the information applies to the specific facility and department being considered.
