JCI accreditation and hospital questions for international patients in India

Accreditation can be one hospital-quality signal, but it does not prove that a particular treatment is suitable, that an outcome is guaranteed, or that every service in a hospital has the same scope. Verify status through the accrediting organisation and the hospital.

What to verify

Ask which legal entity and facility the accreditation applies to, its current status and scope, the relevant department, and how the hospital handles patient safety, informed consent, complaints, records, and follow-up.

Accreditation is one part of the decision

Also compare the clinician's experience for the proposed treatment, the written estimate, clinical review, recovery plan, travel support, and what happens if the plan changes. A facilitator can help organise questions but cannot certify a hospital or clinical outcome.

Frequently asked questions

Does JCI accreditation guarantee a successful treatment?

No. Accreditation is not a guarantee of a particular clinical outcome. Patients should verify the current scope and status and discuss individual suitability with the treating clinician.
